About
We're building the local directory AI can actually read.
People don't just search Google any more. They ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI who to call. For local businesses, those answers are often wrong. The Custard Pages is our fix.
The problem
Ask an AI assistant for a good roofer near Wantage and you'll too often get a national chain, a listing that's years out of date, or a business that has closed.
It isn't that the good local firms don't exist. Their details are scattered across old directories and social pages, half of them have no website, and almost none of it is written in a way machines can understand. AI tools can only recommend what they can read and trust.
What we do
Collect. Confirm. Publish for machines.
-
Collect
Every local business we can find, not just the ones paying for ads. Listing pages start with the public basics: name, category and town.
-
Confirm
We phone or message each owner to check their details. Only then do their number, services and photos go live, with a 'confirmed' tick.
-
Publish for machines
Every page is built to be read by search engines and AI tools as well as people, using the open standards they look for.

Built for AI
What's under the bonnet
- Structured data on every page schema.org markup tells search engines and AI exactly what each business is, where it works and how to reach it.
- llms.txt A plain-text guide to the whole directory, written for AI models. See it at /llms.txt.
- WebMCP tools Our forms and a "search local businesses" tool are published so AI agents in the browser can use them directly.
- Open data feed Every listing as machine-readable JSON at /directory.json.
- AI crawlers welcome We let the crawlers behind ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI read the site, instead of blocking them.
- Instant indexing New pages are pushed to search engines through IndexNow as soon as they go live.
- Breadcrumbs and clean links Every page sits in a clear category › town › business path that machines can follow.
- Fast and stable Static pages on a global network, with no layout jumping around as the page loads.
We can't control what any AI recommends. We make sure it can find, read and trust the details of the businesses listed here.
Who's behind it
A small Oxfordshire studio
The Custard Pages is built and run by Two Sugars, a small web studio run by Ramzy Brown. We build websites and help local businesses get found, by people and by AI.
We list businesses so you can find them. We don't vet the quality of anyone's work, and any business can ask to be removed.
